Welcome

Hello, and welcome to A Random Post. The 'About' page will fill you in on our origins and purpose. Currently, I'm editing a group of essays and random memories of people, places, and things. Excerpts will be appearing on the blog as they are completed. Thank you for reading.

Sketches of a time gone by . . .

Today would have been Dad's 86th birthday. In honor of this day, I'm posting sketches of a place that was near and dear to his heart.

These sketches, originally from The Daily Graphic, June 17, 1878, were reprinted by the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society, Newfoundland, New Jersey.

1. The Montclair and Greenwood Lake railway depot and steamboat landing at Cooper.
2. The old iron furnace.
3. View of Greenwood Lake.

4. The Brandon House.
5. The Windermere Hotel.
6. Map of Greenwood Lake.
7. Map showing the location of Greenwood Lake.
8. Dr. Olcott's summer residence.
9. Ice-house of the Greenwood Lake Ice Company.

As always, if anyone is interested in any of my dad's research, please contact me using the form at right.
